Chandler graduated from Northwestern University while working with Catherine Woolley. There, he earned multiple research grants to help develop transgenic animals towards establishing the localization of steroid hormone receptors.

After graduating in the Winter, he continued his work in the Woolley lab, building an intuitive framework with which to quantify large histology datasets. The following Fall, he joined the Center for Neural Science at NYU.

As a graduate student, Chandler is also working with Richard W. Tsien to study the intricate co-metabolic nature of the nervous system.
